GOOD TO KNOW

Free password &
passphrase generator.

Make strong random passwords and secure passphrases in your browser. Start with 12 characters, customize the length and symbols, or generate up to 100 results in a batch. Every password is created on your device.

What makes these passwords secure?

V2 uses your browser’s Web Crypto API for randomness. Every password that satisfies your chosen rules is equally likely. Longer passwords offer more possible combinations. Use a different password for each account and keep them in a password manager.

Can anyone see what I generate?

Generation happens entirely in your browser. This offline edition has no analytics, ads, external scripts, or password uploads. Recent generations stay in this page’s memory and disappear when you close or refresh it. Copying puts the password on your device’s clipboard; downloading saves it to your device.

Password or passphrase?

Passwords work well with a password manager. Passphrases combine randomly selected words and are helpful when you need to type or remember a secret. Six random passphrase words are a good starting point.

Where did the original version go?

Still here, blue background and all. Use Classic v1 at the top of this page for a little nostalgia. V2 is the default and uses modern cryptographic generation.

A little about strength.

Entropy measures the number of possible results your settings can generate. Each additional bit doubles that number.

Below 28 bits Low28–49 bits Moderate50–69 bits Strong70+ bits Very strong

These labels are a guide, not a promise of safety or a time-to-crack estimate. Password reuse, phishing, and a service’s security also matter.

Changing capitalization or a fixed separator does not add random bits. The number of randomly chosen words, characters, or digits does.
